Dr.
Mike Porter
Rev. Porter comes to the Norton church by way of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario,
Canada. A native of Canada, Mike began his ministry up north in his early
20s. After graduating from Bible college and receiving his bachelors from
a secular university as well, Mike attended seminary where he received
his doctorate in divinity. Always a Bible learner, Rev. Porter will soon
finish his second post graduate degree in theology.
Mike came to know Christ in his late teens and soon realized his desire
to go into the ministry. With the help of his parents and a good church,
Mike pursued his dream and took his first pastoral position in 1987. After
pastoring several churches, Mike founded WitsEnd Ministries in Canada.
He traveled extensively teaching and preaching the word at conferences,
camps and churches of every denomination. It was on one of those visits
to the states that he met his future wife, Nadine. Several years later
and after much discussion and prayer, Mike made the decision to come to
the States for good. Married in August of 2000, the couple made their
home in Coeburn, Virginia.
Mike is excited about pastoring the Norton church and both he and his
wife have been overwhelmed at the love and support received from the church
family. He looks forward to working together with the Norton church to
build the kingdom of God.
Herman
and Sandy Brinkley
Herman and Sandy are long time members of the Norton Presbyterian church.
They reside in Norton and have two beautiful children (Kendall and Terri).
Not only do they sit on the Session of the church but they act as custodians
of our church as well. So don't be afraid to thank them for the wonderful
job they do. As if that wasn't enough, Herman takes care of our sound
system at church. Truly an invaluable asset to the church, this couple
is a tremendous blessing.
